Ghanaian social entrepreneur revolutionizing education access through tech innovation

Abena Afrifa-Akyeampong (born 1987) is a Ghanaian social entrepreneur and founder of School-in-a-Box, an innovative education platform providing free STEM resources to underserved African students. Through her work, over 500,000 children in 15 countries now have access to quality education via offline digital kits containing 20,000+ curriculum-aligned resources. Her initiative addresses the dual challenges of infrastructure gaps and teacher shortages in sub-Saharan Africa.

A graduate of Stanford University's d.school, Abena combines human-centered design with scalable tech solutions. Her 2018 TEDx talk 'Why Education is the New Currency' has over 2M views. In 2020, her organization partnered with UNESCO to develop the first Pan-African digital learning framework.
