Aicha Ech-Chenna
A Moroccan tech innovator revolutionizing education access through AI-driven platforms in North Africa.
Aicha Ech-Chenna is a Moroccan entrepreneur and computer scientist leading the digital transformation of education in North Africa. Born in 1988 in Rabat, she witnessed the disparity in educational resources between urban and rural areas. This motivated her to create technology that democratizes learning opportunities.
In 2021, Ech-Chenna co-founded Learnify, an AI-powered e-learning platform tailored for Arabic-speaking students. The platform offers free courses in STEM subjects, vocational training, and digital literacy, reaching over 200,000 users across Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia by 2024. Learnify’s adaptive learning algorithms personalize content for students with limited internet access, using offline modules stored on USB drives.
Her initiative Code Girls (launched 2022) focuses on teaching coding to rural girls, with partnerships from the Moroccan Ministry of Education. Over 800 girls have been trained, many securing scholarships to tech universities. Ech-Chenna’s collaboration with UNESCO’s Education 2030 initiative expanded Learnify’s reach to conflict zones in the Sahel region.
In 2023, she was featured in TechCrunch for her "transformative impact on education equity." She also co-authored a UNICEF report on digital education in post-conflict areas (2024). Ech-Chenna’s vision aligns with Morocco’s national digital strategy, positioning her as a key player in Africa’s EdTech sector.
