Amina Al-Jaber
Yemeni robotics engineer who established the Arabian Peninsula's first AI research hub led by women.
Defying gender norms in conservative Yemen, Amina Al-Jaber (b. 1991) founded Sana'a Tech Nexus in 2015 - the Gulf region's first all-female AI lab developing Arabic NLP tools. Her team created Zubayr, an algorithm detecting online hate speech in Yemeni dialects with 94% accuracy, used by UN peacekeeping missions.
During the Yemeni Civil War, she engineered autonomous medical drones that delivered blood bags to besieged hospitals, saving over 2,000 lives. Al-Jaber's patented battery technology enables drones to operate in 50°C heat without refrigeration - critical for conflict zones.
Despite assassination attempts, she maintains an open-source conflict tech repository used by engineers from Syria to Myanmar. Her 2023 TED Talk 'Code Over Kalashnikovs' has sparked global discussions on ethical warfare tech.
