Amina Touré
A Malian social entrepreneur building education networks across West Africa
Amina Touré (b. 1988) founded Knowledge Bridge in 2015, a pan-West African educational platform connecting over 500 schools through digital libraries and teacher exchanges. Her 'Digital Camel Caravan' initiative uses solar-powered mobile classrooms to reach nomadic communities, having educated 150,000 children in Mauritania and Mali. Touré's 2019 TEDx Talk highlighted how her platform's AI-driven curriculum adapts to local dialects and cultural contexts. Partnering with the UNICEF, her organization developed the first region-wide literacy app in 2020, now used by 3 million students. Her work inspired the African Union's 2022 Education Charter. Touré also co-founded the Women in Tech West Africa initiative (2021) which trained 8,000 female engineers. She was named Forbes Africa's Education Innovator of the Year (2022).
