Camilo Gomez

A Colombian social entrepreneur who developed AI-driven farming tech to revive post-conflict rural economies and combat food insecurity.

Camilo Gomez transformed Colombia’s agricultural sector through AgroFuture, an AI platform that predicts crop yields and connects smallholders to global markets. Growing up in Antioquia, he witnessed how years of armed conflict had devastated rural livelihoods. After studying robotics in Brazil, he returned home in 2021 to create AgroFuture’s ‘CropGuard’ system—a combination of soil sensors and machine learning that boosted coffee and cocoa yields by 40%. His initiative won the 2022 UNESCO Social Innovation Prize, with pilot projects expanding to Guatemala and Peru. Gomez also launched ‘Farmer’s Blockchain,’ ensuring fair trade pricing for 20,000+ Colombian farmers through decentralized ledgers. His TED Talk ‘From Conflict to Coffee: Tech Healing Colombia’s Heartlands’ (2023) has over 2 million views. In 2024, Gomez partnered with the EU’s Horizon program to adapt his tech for African drought zones. His memoir 《Roots of Innovation》 explores the ethical use of AI in post-conflict societies, while his startup’s partnerships with Nespresso and Fairtrade International have created $15M in farmer revenue since 2020.
