Chidinma Moghalu
Nigerian fintech innovator who developed mobile banking solutions to expand financial inclusion across Africa, revolutionizing access to financial services.
Chidinma Moghalu is a Nigerian fintech pioneer whose mobile banking innovations have transformed financial access in Africa. As CEO of Mog Finance, she launched Mog Wallet in 2020, a blockchain-based platform enabling unbanked populations to send remittances, save money, and access microloans via basic feature phones. The service now serves over 12 million users across 15 African countries, reducing transaction costs by 70% compared to traditional money transfer services.
Moghalu’s 2021 partnership with the African Development Bank’s Financial Inclusion Initiative created the Africa Digital Currency Bridge, a cross-border payment system using her company’s proprietary MogChain protocol. This collaboration helped Nigeria’s rural farmers receive international payments directly without intermediaries, a first in sub-Saharan Africa. Her TEDx talk “How Fintech Can End Poverty” (2023) has been translated into 18 languages and influenced Kenya’s Central Bank to adopt similar blockchain frameworks.
In 2024, Moghalu founded Fintech Women Africa, a mentorship network that trained 3,000+ female entrepreneurs to start digital finance startups. She was named Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 in 2022 and led the World Economic Forum’s African Fintech Task Force. Her upcoming book Banking Beyond Borders: How Mobile Money Redefined Africa (2025) explores the socio-economic impacts of digital finance on gender equality and youth employment.
