Claire Akamanzi

A Rwandan tech visionary who transformed Rwanda into a leading ICT hub in Africa through innovative policies and infrastructure development.

Claire Akamanzi (b. 1977) is a Rwandan business executive and former CEO of the Rwanda Information Technology Authority (RITA). Since 2010, she spearheaded initiatives like the Smart Rwanda strategy, which expanded broadband access and digital services across the country. Her leadership helped Rwanda achieve top rankings in Africa for internet penetration and e-governance. Akamanzi also co-founded the Africa ICT Alliance, promoting tech innovation across the continent. Under her guidance, Rwanda became a model for mobile money adoption and launched the Africa Connected initiative to bridge the digital divide. She currently leads the Millicom Group's social impact programs, continuing her mission to leverage technology for social progress. Her work has been featured in global platforms like World Economic Forum.
