Eduardo Mendoza de Acha co-founded Echale in 2009, deploying over 15,000 ecofiltros across Mexico. These clay-and-silver filters provide clean water without electricity, reducing cholera rates by 60% in Oaxaca.

His latest invention, AquaSolar, uses UV and thermal energy to sterilize water, serving indigenous communities ignored by grid infrastructure. The device won the 2022 UNESCO Netexplo Award.

Mendoza also developed a blockchain system (HydroLedger) to track water quality data. Critics call him the Elon Musk of social tech, though he reinvests 100% of profits into community cooperatives.
