Eliud Kipchoge

First human to break 2-hour marathon barrier through scientific innovation

Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge (b.1984) redefined human endurance limits by completing a marathon in 1:59:40 during the 2019 INEOS 1:59 Challenge. This achievement combined cutting-edge sports science with traditional Kalenjin running techniques.

Kipchoge's team developed a laser-guided pacing system and aerodynamic formation running strategy. They analyzed over 200 biomechanical parameters using AI, creating the first digital twin of marathon running physiology.

Beyond athletics, his 'No Human is Limited' philosophy inspired UN sustainability campaigns. The Kipchoge Foundation's solar-powered treadmills have brought sports science to 300+ rural Kenyan schools since 2020.
