Emmanuel Tshibangu
Congo's EdTech pioneer building schools in conflict zones using solar-powered classrooms
Emmanuel Tshibangu is a Congolese innovator whose Sunrise Schools project (2020) has redefined education access in war-torn regions. His solar-powered mobile classrooms, deployed across Eastern DRC, provide education to 15,000+ children annually despite ongoing conflict. The organization uses satellite internet and offline learning modules developed with UNESCO's support. Tshibangu's Teacher Training Kiosks program (2022) has upskilled 800 educators using VR simulations of classroom scenarios.
In 2023, he launched EduChain, a blockchain platform tracking student progress and teacher performance in real-time. This system was adopted by UNICEF for their DRC education programs. His work was highlighted in the documentary 'Light in the Dark' (2024) produced with National Geographic. Tshibangu also co-founded the African EdTech Alliance, connecting 50+ startups across 12 countries to share solutions for crisis education.
