Fabiola Campuzano
Colombian environmental activist transforming waste into renewable energy
Fabiola Campuzano (born 1975) is a Colombian engineer and environmentalist who developed a revolutionary system to convert organic waste into biogas. Her Biogas for All project, launched in 2003, provides affordable household biogas digesters to rural communities, reducing deforestation and improving health conditions. Over 15,000 units have been installed across Latin America, preventing 10,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. Campuzano's work was instrumental in Colombia's 2015 national biogas policy and inspired similar programs in Peru and Ecuador. She co-founded the Green Energy Latin America network, which trains women in renewable energy technologies. Her TED Talk "Turning Trash into Treasure" has over 1.2 million views, showcasing her innovative approach to sustainability.
