Omani environmental engineer pioneering desert solar energy solutions for Middle Eastern communities

Hassan Al-Bahiti is an Omani engineer whose solar energy innovations are redefining sustainable development in arid regions. Founder of DesertSun Energy, he developed the 'Solar Oasis' system - a modular photovoltaic design that increases efficiency by 35% in desert climates through sand-resistant coatings and AI-driven tilt mechanisms. Implemented across Oman's Empty Quarter since 2020, this technology now powers 12 remote villages and provides 20MW to the national grid.

In 2022, Hassan launched the AquaSolar Initiative, combining solar energy with desalination to create water farms in desert areas. The project's first plant in Salalah produces 10,000 liters daily, supporting 3,000 residents. His work earned the 2023 Global Sustainability Award and inspired the UAE's Abu Dhabi Solar Alliance.
