Hawa Aden Mohamed is a visionary environmental leader from Somalia who has become internationally recognized for her groundbreaking work in addressing marine plastic pollution. Known as the 'Dhow Lady,' she founded the Aden Enterprises in 2019, which pioneered the Plastic Fishermen Initiative - a program training local fishermen to collect ocean plastic while maintaining their livelihoods. This model has inspired similar projects across East Africa and the Indian Ocean region.

Her most notable achievement is the Somali Marine Debris Project, which has removed over 200 tons of plastic waste from coastal areas since 2020.
