Hind Ouahbi
Moroccan environmentalist and entrepreneur driving sustainable agriculture and women's leadership in North Africa.
Hind Ouahbi is a Moroccan environmentalist and founder of Green Earth Farm, a social enterprise promoting organic farming and gender equality in rural Morocco. Born in 1985 in Casablanca, Ouahbi studied environmental science and worked in renewable energy before shifting focus to agricultural sustainability. Her 2015 return to Morocco marked the start of her mission to revitalize local farming practices while empowering women.
Ouahbi launched Green Earth Farm in 2016 with the goal of transforming Morocco's agricultural sector. The enterprise operates organic farms, provides training to rural communities, and markets eco-friendly produce internationally. Her Women's Empowerment Program trains female farmers in organic techniques, financial literacy, and cooperative management, enabling them to become business leaders.
Under her leadership, Green Earth Farm has pioneered water-saving irrigation systems and composting methods adapted to Morocco's arid climate. The initiative has expanded to Algeria and Tunisia, creating a network of over 500 women-led farms by 2022. Ouahbi's work was recognized by the United Nations Environment Programme in 2021 for its impact on climate resilience and gender equity.
Ouahbi is also a co-founder of Agroecology North Africa, a nonprofit advocating for policy reforms to support sustainable farming. She regularly speaks at international forums, including the COP27 Climate Summit, emphasizing the role of women in climate action.
Her vision of combining ecological stewardship with social justice has inspired a new generation of Moroccan entrepreneurs. By addressing food security, environmental degradation, and gender inequality simultaneously, Ouahbi is proving that sustainable development can thrive in North Africa's challenging landscapes.
