A Ugandan tech entrepreneur and advocate for women in STEM, pioneering digital inclusion across Africa

Josephine Kule (born 1980) is a visionary Ugandan technologist whose work has revolutionized access to technology education in East Africa. As founder of Uganda Women in Technology (UWiT), she created Africa's first all-women tech hub focused on closing the gender gap in STEM fields. Her initiatives have trained over 5,000 women since 2003 through programs like Code Girls and Tech Mentorship Circles.

Her 2015 partnership with Google's Google.org established the first African women's hackathon series, inspiring similar programs in Kenya and Nigeria. Kule's TEDx talk "Bridging the Gender Digital Divide" has been viewed over 1.2 million times globally.
