A Bhutanese tech innovator developing AI-driven solutions for sustainable agriculture

Kinley Dorji is a Bhutanese computer scientist and CEO of AgriWise, a startup creating AI-powered platforms to optimize crop yields and reduce food waste. Born in 1992 in Thimphu, Kinley studied at Royal University of Bhutan before completing a master's in AI at ETH Zurich. Returning home in 2020, he developed AgriWise Monitor, a mobile app that uses satellite imagery and machine learning to predict pest outbreaks and soil conditions. Farmers in 15 Bhutanese districts now use the system, increasing average rice yields by 28% while cutting pesticide use by 40%. His team's 2022 TechCrunch pitch attracted $800k in venture capital, enabling expansion into Nepal and Myanmar. Kinley's TEDx talk "Green Algorithms: Feeding Asia with Data" has sparked collaborations with FAO's Dhaka office.
