Jordanian educator revolutionizing STEM education for Arab girls

Lama Al-Mohammad transformed education in Jordan through her STEM for Girls Initiative. Born in Amman in 1982, she identified the gender gap in science education while working as a physics teacher. Her program provides scholarships, mentorship and coding labs to 15,000+ girls annually across 8 Arab countries. Al-Mohammad's development of the RoboGirls robotics competition has produced 3 international championship teams. Her TEDx talk "Why We Need More Girls in STEM" has over 2 million views. Current projects include a blockchain-based certification system for female engineers and partnerships with Qatar Foundation. She received the 2020 UNESCO Women in Science award.
