Saudi Arabian tech entrepreneur empowering Arab women through digital literacy

Lina Mounir disrupted traditional gender norms in Saudi Arabia by creating SheCodes Arabia, a platform offering free coding courses to 150,000+ women by 2024. Launched in 2020, the initiative has expanded to 12 Middle Eastern countries through partnerships with Microsoft and Google.org. Her 2022 book 《Code for Change》 became a bestseller in Arabic STEM literature, translated into 5 languages. Mounir's Digital Women Network now operates 40+ innovation hubs across MENA, providing certification pathways to tech careers. In 2023, she pioneered the region's first blockchain-based micro-credential system, enabling 30,000 women to prove their skills to global employers. Her TEDxRiyadh talk "Breaking Barriers with Code" (2022) received 4.1M views, inspiring similar initiatives in Pakistan and Egypt. Recently appointed to the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers community, Mounir's 2024 partnership with UNESCO launched an AI literacy curriculum now taught in 200 Saudi schools. Her venture capital arm Arab Women Innovate Fund has invested $12M in startups led by regional women since 2023.
