Moses Musaazi
Ugandan inventor revolutionizing urban waste management through community-driven recycling.
Moses Musaazi (b.1978) transformed Kampala's waste crisis through his Kampala Recycles initiative, launched in 2020. His "Waste to Wealth" model trains marginalized youth to convert organic waste into biogas and compost, creating 1,500+ jobs. Featured in Forbes Africa's 2022 Impact 100, his 2023 partnership with UN-Habitat expanded the model to Nairobi and Accra. Musaazi's RecycleHub platform connects 5,000+ small businesses with recycled materials, reducing plastic waste by 60% in participating zones. His TEDx talk "The Circular Economy in Your Backyard" has 1.8 million views. Recognized as a 2024 Ashden Award winner, his work is documented in the BBC series "Africa's Green Revolution" and the book "Circular Economy in African Contexts".
