Palestinian engineer building sustainable tech solutions in Gaza's conflict zones

Mousa al-Jabali is a visionary Palestinian innovator transforming Gaza's infrastructure through solar energy and drone technology. Despite facing electricity shortages and international blockades, he founded Green Horizon in 2017 to develop off-grid solar systems for hospitals and schools. His team engineered solar-powered water desalination units that now serve 15 coastal communities. Al-Jabali pioneered the use of drones for crop monitoring, enabling farmers to double yields despite limited resources. His Rebuilding Gaza Initiative trains youth in 3D-printing construction materials from recycled waste, rebuilding 47 homes post-2021 conflicts. Al-Jabali's innovations were showcased in the BBC documentary Innovation Under Siege and recognized by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in 2022. He co-authored the Gaza Renewable Energy Roadmap, a blueprint adopted by the UNDP, and launched the Regional Tech Hub connecting Palestinian innovators with international investors. His work has inspired similar initiatives in Yemen and Syria, proving sustainable tech can thrive even in the harshest conditions.
