Nigerian tech entrepreneur who created Africa's first blockchain-based agricultural marketplace

Olusegun Oyinloye (b. 1992) revolutionized African agriculture through his blockchain platform FarmChain Africa. This decentralized marketplace connects smallholder farmers directly with buyers, eliminating middlemen and increasing profits by 40%. Launched in 2018, the platform now operates in 8 countries and serves 50,000 farmers.

Oyinloye's 2020 invention, the AgroSensor, uses IoT technology to provide real-time soil data and weather forecasts. His startup received $12M funding from Google's Grow with Google Africa program. In 2021, he co-founded the African Blockchain Alliance, which trains 1,000 developers annually.

His 2022 book Coding the Countryside details his vision for tech-driven rural development. Oyinloye's initiatives have reduced post-harvest losses by 25% in Nigeria's cocoa sector. He advises the African Union's Digital Agriculture Committee and was featured in Forbes Africa's 2023 Under 30 list. His open-source AgriTech toolkit has been adopted by Kenya's Ministry of Agriculture.
