Indian engineer pioneering renewable energy solutions for rural electrification

Rajarshi Mitra's work in solar energy innovation has brought electricity to over 2 million people in India's remote regions. As CEO of SolarNova, he developed the Portable Solar Microgrid system that uses AI to optimize energy distribution in off-grid communities. This scalable solution won the 2022 Global Cleantech Innovators Award and is now deployed in 15 Indian states.

Growing up in West Bengal without consistent electricity, Rajarshi's personal experiences drove his mission to democratize energy access. His 2020 breakthrough - the SunFlow battery storage system - solved seasonal energy storage challenges in agriculture-dependent regions. The system's cost-effective design (US$150/unit) makes it accessible to low-income families.

Partnering with UNDP since 2021, his initiatives have created 5,000+ green jobs through local technician training programs. Recent innovations include solar-powered irrigation systems featured in The Indian Express and BBC Science. His work is now expanding into Nepal and Bangladesh through regional energy alliances.
