Ramabai Ranade

Ramabai Ranade (1863–1941) was a visionary social reformer from Maharashtra, India. She defied societal norms by becoming one of the first Indian women to pursue higher education and later dedicated her life to empowering marginalized communities. Alongside her husband, Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade, she founded the Indumati Girls' School in Mumbai in 1874, which later evolved into the Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s College. She also established orphanages for girls and campaigned against child marriage and gender inequality. Her advocacy for women's education and her work in social welfare earned her recognition as a pioneer of India's women's rights movement.
