Reem Al-Fallaha
Jordanian educator creating inclusive STEM education for girls in the Middle East
Reem Al-Fallaha is a Jordanian engineer whose nonprofit STEM Jordan has empowered 150,000 girls across the Middle East to pursue careers in science and technology. Her programs combine online learning platforms with hands-on workshops, addressing cultural barriers through partnerships with local religious leaders. The initiative operates in 8 countries including Yemen and Palestine.
Al-Fallaha developed the region's first Arabic-language coding curriculum for girls aged 10-18. Her 'Girls in Tech' summer camps have produced over 300 startup teams, with 20% securing seed funding. In 2022, her work led to Jordan's Ministry of Education adopting mandatory coding classes for all female students.
A graduate of Jordan University's engineering program, she overcame societal expectations to become the first woman in her family to work outside the home. Her memoir 《Code Breaking》 details her journey. She was named UN Women's Regional Champion in 2025 for bridging gender gaps in tech sectors where women represent only 8% of professionals.
