Rohan Patel's Green Wave Initiative has transformed Mumbai from a concrete jungle into a city with 1.2 million new trees since 2021. His approach combines drone-based tree planting with community engagement programs that employ over 3,000 local residents.

Innovative Techniques

Patel's patented drone technology allows precise planting in hard-to-reach areas, while his mobile app TreeConnect lets citizens track tree growth and earn carbon credits. This system has reduced Mumbai's urban heat island effect by 4°C in pilot zones.

Policy Impact

His work inspired India's 2024 National Urban Forest Policy, requiring all cities to maintain 33% green cover. The initiative won the UNEP Young Champions of the Earth Prize in 2023.

Global Expansion
