Yoshiro Nakamatsu

Japanese inventor with over 3,500 patents including the floppy disk, known for eccentric creativity methods.

Dr. Yoshiro Nakamatsu (b. 1928), aka Dr. NakaMats, holds the Guinness World Record for most patents. His 1950 floppy disk design predated IBM's commercial version by two decades. The self-proclaimed 'Japan's Edison' created inventions ranging from digital watches to taxicab meters while developing unique creativity techniques.

Nakamatsu's 'Cerebrex' method involves near-drowning experiences to spark ideas, documented in his book 《The Secret to Inventing》. He founded the Nakamats Foundation to promote innovation education. Despite criticism for his flamboyant persona, his 1971 'PyonPyon' jumping shoes demonstrated functional exoskeleton technology decades before modern prototypes.

Now in his 90s, Nakamatsu continues inventing, recently proposing a COVID-19 prevention device using light frequencies. His unorthodox approaches challenge conventional R&D methodologies.
