Amina Al-Said

Founder of Africa's first female-only tech hub empowering rural girls through education

Amina Al-Said is a Gambian tech entrepreneur and social activist who founded She Codes Africa in 2021. This initiative provides free coding education and mentorship to over 15,000 rural girls across 12 African countries, addressing both gender and digital divides. Her work has been recognized by the UN Women's Empowerment Principles and the African Union's Digital Transformation Awards. Before launching She Codes Africa, Amina developed an AI-driven agricultural app during the 2020 pandemic that connected 50,000 smallholder farmers to markets using satellite data. She currently serves on the board of UNESCO's Global Education Monitoring Report, advocating for tech inclusion policies. In 2023, she pioneered the first continent-wide girls' hackathon series, resulting in innovations like a solar-powered irrigation system now used in 8 countries.
