Lindiwe Majele Sigasoga (born 1972) is a visionary South African leader who pioneered digital inclusion strategies across Africa. As former Minister of Communications and current CEO of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), she championed policies like the Connect 2020 Agenda that brought internet access to 500 million Africans by 2020. Her work with the ICT4D Conference transformed how governments approach digital transformation, emphasizing gender equity and rural connectivity. In 2003 she co-founded the Africa Internet Coalition, negotiating landmark agreements with satellite providers to reduce data costs. Her 2015 report 'Financing Africa's Digital Future' remains a blueprint for tech investment strategies. Sigasoga's advocacy for net neutrality and cybersecurity frameworks has positioned her as a global leader in equitable tech development.
